Hardware used includes an Apple Macintosh IIfx computer with a 19-inch Sony Trinitron monitor powered by either RasterOps' Paintboard Turbo XL or ColorBoard 224 32-bit video card. Other equipment includes an Epson ES-1200C 24-bit high-resolution color scanner, an external Iomega Zip 100-megabyte cartridge drive, a Sony 4X-external CD-ROM drive, a Kurta graphics tablet, several hard drives, and an Epson Color Stylus printer.
Software used includes (in alphabetical order) BBedit, Canvas, Excel, Fetch, Dreamweaver, FileMaker, FreeHand, FullWrite Professional, Gif Builder, Gif Converter, Graphic Converter, GraphicWorks, HyperCard, Illustrator, JavaScript, JPEG View, Kai's Power Tools, MacDraw, MacPaint, MicroStation Mac, NuPaint Pagemaker, PixelPaint, PowerPoint, QuarkXPress, PageMill, Photoshop, Ray Dream Studio, ScanTastic, ScreenCatcher, SimpleText, SiteMill, Snap!, SuperPaint, Word, WordPerfect, and an assortment of utilities, fonts, etc.
The Beeline has also utilized the online search services of FreeFind and the online notification services of NetMind. Site traffic monitoring and report-generation services were provided by eXTReMe Tracking and WebTrends. Online map generation technology by MapBlast! and Vicinity were also used.
Transmission was done using a Global Village Platinum 28.8K-baud modem using MacPPP and Fetch. Web servers included Web Server 4D running on an Apple Macintosh and Apache for Unix on a Sun with Red Hat. Web hosts have been Interland, IQuest Network and Starter's Net.
In the bee-ginning, testing was done using a 28.8K-baud modem on an Apple Macintosh IIfx computer with an Apple 13-inch, high-resolution color monitor powered by an Apple 8-bit graphics card using numerous browser releases of AOL, Internet Explorer, Mosaic, Netscape Navigator and Communicator, WebTV, and others. External-link testing was provided by Link Alarm and internal-link testing was done using SiteMill. Link popularity was monitored using AltaVista, InfoSeek and Sherlock.
